Aftercare instructions

• Leave the second skin cover on for a maximum of three days. It may look very dark and smudged by the third day, but rest assured the tattoo itself will be exactly as it was when it was first done once it’s been cleaned. If the second skin does come off sooner that’s fine, but bare in mind the tattoo could still be ‘wet’ before three days, and won’t need moisturiser right away.
• You can safely shower with your second skin cover on, as it’s waterproof. I don’t recommend taking a bath with the second skin on, or at all for the next four weeks as the tattoo will still be healing.
• I advise removing the second skin while in the shower, or with running water, as it can be very sticky. Be gentle, and wash away any dried ink, plasma, or blood left under the second skin covering. You can use a light antibacterial soap for this.
• Once your tattoo is uncovered and washed- pat it dry with kitchen towel, or let it air dry. Please don’t rub your tattoo with a body towel.
• Once the tattoo is dry, apply a thin layer of Palmers Cocoa Butter (available at Boots or Superdrug, as well as most supermarkets), or Dream Cream from LUSH, onto the tattoo. Repeat this twice a day for minimum of two weeks.
• Avoid scratching or picking at your tattoo during its healing, this can cause permanent damage to the tattoo.
• Do not allow your new tattoo to rub against tight clothing, or dry out, as this can cause issues with the healing and can also cause damage to the tattoo.
• Do not do excessive exercise, go swimming, sunbathe, or apply fake tan while your tattoo is still healing. This is usually around 4-6 weeks. Plan your appointment around your sunny holiday, if you have travel plans.
If you experience any sort of rash as a result of the second skin, take it off as soon as you notice and gently wash your tattoo with warm water and allow to air. Bad reactions are very unlikely, but those allergic to adhesives can experience this. If you are allergic to adhesives I can use cling film to wrap your tattoo, and give you separate aftercare instruction for the first three days.
I do not recommend Bepanthen, Vaseline, Sudo creme ,or dry healing tattoos. My style is very delicate and requires attention during the healing, to avoid causing drop out, or general damage to the tattoo. You can use tattoo products such as Hustle Butter and Tattoo Goo, but I’ve listed my personal favourites above- which are more accessible and affordable.
If your tattoo needs a touch up after it’s fully healed (6 weeks or so), I will gladly do it free of charge. Providing you follow my advice, your tattoo should heal up nicely! But as my style is light and fine, there’s always the possibility it’ll need a quick touch up. If you have purposely damaged the tattoo, (eg. was negligent during the healing) I will ask for at least the studio minimum of £60 to do the touch up.
If you have any questions during the healing you can contact me directly on Instagram or by email, and I’ll reply to you as soon as I can.
